Northrop Grumman is seeking a Sr. Principal Engineer Systems Test.  This position will be located in Huntsville, Alabama and will support the Sentinel program.  This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

In this role, the candidate will support lab operations build-up / integration of hardware and software units, enforcement of lab operations processes and support hardware / software testing activities. They will be responsible for coordinating lab scheduling, development and integration. Familiarity with engineering drawings, network diagrams and schematics and various test equipment is required for this position. A successful candidate will work in a dynamic people-focused environment where they will interact with users, customers and other engineers. This individual is expected to alert management to recurring problems and patterns of problems. Additionally, they will support anomaly investigation / troubleshooting as well as implement best practices and demonstrates good hardware configuration management and tool accountability.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.  

Youll Bring These Qualifications:

  • 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelors Degree; 6 years with a Masters; 4 years with a PhD; 4 additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • US Citizenship with an Active Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 6 years) with the ability to obtain Special Access Program (SAP) certification.

  • Familiarity with lab equipment (DMMs, O-scopes, Spectrum Analyzers, etc.) and lab processes (ESD, FOD, Configuration Management, etc.)

  • Experience operating in an Agile environment using any of the Atlassian software tool sets (JIRA, Confluence)

  • Experience in a lab / test environment

  • Experience with Linux operating systems

  • Experience with Cisco routers and Switches.

  • Ability to install software packages and patches.

  • Must hold one or more current CompTIA certifications for an IAT Level II (GSEC, Security+ or SSCP) or higher to satisfy DOD 8570-1M requirement.  

  • Familiarity with COTS network management and configuration systems.

  • Ability to effectively communicate issues and help provide solutions across teams / sites. 

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • US Citizenship with an Active Top-Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 6 years) with the ability to obtainel Special Access Program (SAP) certification.

  • A Bachelors Degree or higher in a STEM related field

  • Experience using basic electronic test equipment, Python Scripting for test bench automation, Test Operations and Conduct

  • Ability to troubleshoot system using built in OS functionality and system logs.

  • Perform OS tuning, understand networking, perform user management, and perform security hardening, review OS logs as needed and perform system backups. 

  • The successful candidate will have experience with scripting, particularly in shell scripting. Any experience with SH and CSH variants, Python, or Powershell would be helpful. 

  • Computer system performance analysis.

  • Experience with vSphere and/or VMware Cloud Foundation

  • Experience with Cloud practices and Infrastructure as a Code (IaaC) principles

  • Experience with Ansible

  • Operates independently with limited to no supervision, and the ability to establish a solid working relationship with technical staff, peers, and customers.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Strong analytical skills.
