The Boeing AvionX organization is seeking a highly motivated Senior Test & Evaluation Engineer to join our growing team and expanding facilities in Smithfield, PA to support AvionX work across all business units (BDS, BCA & BGS).
Boeing AvionX develops and produces avionics and electronics systems designed for use on aircraft and other platforms for purposes such as navigation, flight controls, information systems, and other core avionics functions. We have set our sights high – to design, develop, and manufacture the most technically advanced and reliable avionic components in the world. We are innovating and developing new products to address the future of the urban air mobility as well as our next generation of commercial, tactical, and trainer aircraft markets, weapons and others.
As a Senior Test or Electrical Engineer with a strong background in the testing and troubleshooting of electro-mechanical systems, you will lead the development and documentation of standardized test methods and processes to ensure repeatability and productivity and lead the development of test procedures when necessary, in support of required ad-hoc testing needs, analyzes, reviews and validates test data.
Position Responsibilities:
Develops and recommends equipment reliability improvements
Performs periodical Preventative Maintenance (PM) and troubleshoots test assets as required
Reviews performance data/feedback to resolve issues related to product defects, equipment downtime, test process inefficiencies; and implement corrective actions to improve/eliminate
Predictive Failure Analysis on test equipment and tooling/fixtures
Equipment Design and Selection (review candidate solution specifications/capabilities vs. requirements)
Improves equipment efficiency, reliability and productivity to meet targets
Maintains records of equipment performance, maintenance activities and upgrades
Works under minimal direction
Creates issue reports and presents results to internal and external customers
Applies lessons learned to the improvement of test procedures, equipment, fixtures and tooling
Develops data processing tools and algorithms
Guides others in the design of test hardware, software and systems to achieve compliance to test requirements
Formulates expectations for test data based on historical data
Performs functions as required to ensure calibration system readiness and data validity
Performs Circuit Card Assembly (CCA)- testing and troubleshooting to the defective component and/or process level
Determines root cause and implement corrective actions in accordance with Boeing’s standard RCCA (Root Case Corrective Action) process
Authors test reports to document results and convey conclusions. Conducts research in test technologies to improve efficiency and capability
Interfaces with other members of project or program team, management, and technical staff to define and implement test engineering solutions
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
8+ years of relevant experience
Experience in Electrical and Electronics development and troubleshooting
Understanding of electrical circuits and systems
Experience with Test Equipment
Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and datasheets
Ability to troubleshoot digital/analog/RF circuits to identify root cause to the component level
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related field
Proficiency with standard Microsoft work applications (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Familiarity with EE CAD tools (e.g., Mentor Graphics, Allegro, OrCAD)

Summary pay range: $113,900 - $154,100
