What You Will Do:
As a Principal Software Engineer, you will support one or more phases of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) - requirements, design, development, test, validation, and maintenance.
You will support research and development activities and/or programs of record.
You will work with a talented team of engineers, architects, and leaders in an Agile environment.
Apply experience to plan for and execute the porting of an operational system to a new platform, operating system, and computing language.
What You Will Learn:
Agile methodology and a tool set that supports this.
Modern Development, Security, and Operation (DevSecOps) and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery techniques.
Test-Driven Multi-Disciplined Capability (TDMC) Product Development methodology.
A variety of domains such as battle management, command & control, communications, radar, missile, and/or modeling & simulation
Work across engineering disciplines to develop complex problems in support of defense systems.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related (STEM) discipline and minimum 10 years of prior engineering experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 7 years engineering work experience.
Experience with virtual memory system, VAX/VMS, OpenVMS, system management, scripting, Alpha, Integrity platform, including migrating across generations, etc.
Experience with FORTRAN programming language or similar (including Infrastructure, utilities, Global Data / Common Blocks) etc…
Experience with developing, testing, object-oriented software using a modern software language (e.g., C++, Rust, Java, etc).
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Experience with OOA/D and UML or similar design language/notation.
Experience in converting legacy FORTRAN code to modern C++ applications
Experience with Agile or working knowledge of lifecycle processes including Scrum, and Continuous Integration.
Experience as a Software Architect with the ability to refactor and optimize code to create a cohesive and extensible software product.
Experience working closely and directly within a team environment.
Experience with tools such as Atlassian Suite (e.g., Bitbucket, Confluence, Crucible, Fisheye, Jira), Jenkins, Eclipse, etc.
