Description:Lockheed Martin is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Grand Prairie, TX
The successful candidate will demonstrate highly innovative approaches to resolve difficult production and design issues. The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting production and development teams, resolving technical challenges, incorporating engineering changes, updating drawings or assembly parts lists, and developing new designs and tools.
The candidate will support hardware operations and may provide support to engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations as well as supplier support.
Basic Qualifications:
*Pursuing a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree.
* Proficiency in CAD design tools, such as PTC Creo, 3DX/CATIA, Solidworks, MATLAB, etc.
* Demonstrated successful group collaboration and/ or individual project work, ideally in an mechanics or design areas.
* Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues, work with system integration issues, design challenges, etc. demonstrated through hands-on experience.
* Ability to obtain a security clearance
Desired Skills:
* Hands‑on experience with machining, rapid prototyping, or lab equipment (CNC, 3‑D printers, test rigs)
*Exposure to GD&T, sketching, technical drawing standards, or similar hands-on hardware support.
*Basic FEA/CFD exposure (ANSYS, Abaqus, COMSOL) or willingness to learn.
* Familiarity with MATLAB.
* Participation in engineering clubs, competitions (e.g., SAE, ASME competitions).
* Basic understanding of industry standards (ISO, ASME, ASTM).
* Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
* Active clearance.
