Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Sector is seeking a Manager of Energetics Manufacturing to support the Energetics Manufacturing Engineering group at our Rocket Center, WV location.
This position will we be located on-site at our Rocket Center, WV location. No remote opportunities are available for this position.
As Manager in the Energetics Manufacturing Engineering group, candidate will be responsible for providing supervisory/management responsibilities for a small group of engineers working on production and development rocket motor and/or warhead programs, while also providing technical leadership and guidance. This manager will also work on proposal requests and provide manufacturing plans and estimates to support business growth.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Lead a team that develops and sustains manufacturing processes for defense-related products
- Ensure the right people, processes, and tools are in place to meet the business needs
- Oversee the supervision of day-to-day engineering activity and work products, expense management, workload management and performance management process
- Identify, manage and grow the critical skills for the manufacturing team
- Identify and/or lead continuous improvement activities within the department/plant
- Function as a key contributor on development programs, guiding manufacturing trajectory
- Prepare, review, and approve cost estimates and written technical proposals

Basic Qualifications
- BS degree in Engineering is required, preferably Mechanical or Aerospace
- Minimum of 5 years of directly related engineering experience, or 3 years with an MS degree
- Strong mechanical skills and exposure to a manufacturing environment
- Ability and experience with interpreting drawing/specification requirements
- Familiarity with Root Cause Analysis, Fault Trees and Design of Experiments
- Strong leadership, influence, and project management skills
- Ability to network and negotiate at all levels within an organization to accomplish objectives
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to travel occasionally (<10%) to meet with various customers, in both government and industry, and to interface with vendors
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance which requires US Citizenship as a prerequisite
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior project, program, or people leadership experience
- Strong mechanical skills and exposure to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Knowledge of propellant/explosive manufacturing
- Prior experience working with DoD and/or DoE customers
