Electric Boat NAVY Facility Engineering & Training (Department 701) is seeking an Intermediate Architect/Facilities Designer with experience in new construction, rehabilitation, institutional and infrastructure projects.

We are an innovative architectural/engineering group specializing in design, installation and maintenance for NAVAL Submarine Facilities and Trainers located at NAVAL Submarine Base New London.

The successful candidate will have knowledge in commercial drawings to successfully compile construction documents to be issued to local and regional NAVY Facilities Systems Commands (NAVFAC). Experience applying Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools for the existing conditions, architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection is necessary.

In this role, communication is critical with internal/external customers, consultants, and contractors throughout the design and construction process.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop architectural drawings in accordance with established department and client standards
  • Collaborate with Professional Engineers on a wide varied of projects and timelines
  • Create and modify details/sections to implement engineers mark ups
  • Identify inconsistencies and coordination issues between architectural and engineered drawings.
  • Utilize REVIT 2024 to create and prepare accurate construction drawings based on schematic/design development sketches.
  • Plan, draft, and detail a set of documents up to a level of 60-80% with limited need for support.
  • Incorporate field best practice standards.

This job requires 25% travel to the various project locations: New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Virginia, Georgia, California, Washington, Hawaii, Guam, and Australia.



Responsibilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills
  • The candidate should be knowledgeable of Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Project
  • Familiarity with commercial building codes is a plus
  • Incorporate field best practice standards
  • Proficiency utilizing Autodesk REVIT is mandatory
  • Proficiency in developing REVIT models
  • Demonstrate knowledge of architectural design principles and procedures
    Field Measuring
  • Able to work independently and collaborative
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Knowledge of commercial mechanical, structural, electrical and life safety systems, with practical knowledge of the construction processes used in these areas


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Interior Architectural, or Construction Management
  • 5-8 years of experience in an architectural design environment which supported the three most common types of construction; Buildings, Infrastructure and Facilities
  • Candidates selected for interviews will be required to present a portfolio showcasing work in any areas listed in this job description and should specifically highlight REVIT skills

Preferred:

  • On-site construction experience
  • Experience utilizing BlueBeam
