Electric Boat Navy Facilities Engineering and Training Technologies (Department 701 located at SUBASE Groton, CT) is seeking an Engineer with a background in architecture, civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering. The ideal candidate will have experience in engineering and project management related to all building systems with an extensive portfolio demonstrating leadership, proficiencies and experience with new construction, rehabilitation, and modernization projects.
The candidate will be responsible for the program management supporting the installation of U.S. Navy trainers located at a naval base in Western Australia.
This role requires an on-site presence in Western Australia for multiple durations of six months (minimum) to support trainer installation phases. Option for permanent relocation to Western Australia will be considered.
The candidate will be responsible to oversee the development of Trainer Installation Documents for all trainers to be installed in Western Australia. Experience working with and managing Building Information Models (BIM) for facility outfitting and installations to be used by commercial subcontractors.
The candidate must be highly motivated with the capability to work independently at a remote site. The candidate shall be able to demonstrate developed leadership and decision-making skills utilized under restrictive deadlines. Extensive communication with facility design consultants, government officials, and senior level management will be required.
Strong project management and organization skills are required to be successful in this role. Capability to lead multiple projects, design, and construction activities simultaneously. Knowledge of commercial mechanical, structural, electrical and ventilation systems, with practical knowledge of the construction processes used in these areas.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent technical degree.
- 4+ years relevant work experience.
- Previous on-site construction management experience managing multiple contractors.
- Previous experience utilizing Autodesk REVIT.
- Ability to support extended work assignments to Western Australia is required.
Preferred:
- Ability to effectively read facility construction drawings.
- Knowledge of Submarine systems and associated simulators and trainers.
- Use of Microsoft programs including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
