Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Principal or Sr. Principal Non Destructive Inspection Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA within the Palmdale Vehicle Engineering organization.
Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be responsible for analyzing, researching, and specifying Non-destructive inspection tools and methodologies and their related application processes for use in bonded composite structures, metallics, systems and subsystems.
The candidate will apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material science to investigate material issues and provide solutions.
The candidate will work in a team environment with other engineering and quality organizations performing detailed technical reviews of specifications, inspection plans, and standard developments.
The candidate will provide technical and engineering support to the NDT department, develop NDT procedures and techniques, train NDT personnel, research and develop new inspection methods for production inspection, assist in DCMA and internal audits.
Basic Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications for a Principal Engineer include a Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 5 years of experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with 3 years of experience, or a PhD Degree with no experience
Basic Qualifications for a Sr Principal Engineer include a Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 8 years of experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with 6 years of experience, or a PhD Degree with 3 years of experience.
Note: An additional 4 years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree
Candidate must have an American Society for Non-destructive Testing (SNT) LV III in multiple methods
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access prior to start.
