Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Ground Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within the Tactical Division. This technical role is located in Dulles, VA.
Job Responsibilities:
This position will support a funded study providing subject matter expertise to ground system design, architecture development, cloud application integration/deployment, and system integration. Additionally, you will provide technical assessments to system design and integration challenges and recommend mitigation approaches, to include hardware solutions, software solutions, and modification of architectural design.
You will work to provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex and technically challenging work.
Additionally, you will:
- Build relationships between key stakeholders such as vendors, cloud infrastructure providers, and the customer
- Strong analytical and collaboration skills
- Review system architectures, analyze requirements and system design, propose verification methodologies, and help integrate complex ground systems
- Review software development contractor’s documents and procedures, requirements, verification methodologies, Concept of Operations (CONOPS), Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and test plans to ensure program success
- Provide support to acquisitions, source selection and programmatic processes
- Provide technical evaluation of proposals submitted by contractors
- Update Statements of Work (SOW) to support any Engineering Change Proposal (ECP)
- Coordinate and facilitate technical exchange meetings between various organizations
- Monitor software testing to ensure system requirements are properly addressed
- Cloud Computing
- Experience migrating and integrating systems into a cloud environment
- Experience integrating cloud services and tools
- Experience planning and engineering of an organization’s cloud computing infrastructure and applications
- Familiarity with various cloud technologies such as Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), or Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
- Oversee the implementation of a complex blended architecture that includes bare metal and virtualized components as well as cloud-based applications
- Software Integration
- Knowledge of various programming languages including Python, C++ & Java
- Understanding of the software design implications required to maximize cloud computing environments
- Experience integrating complex software systems into a cloud environment
- Participate in independent integration testing on the system software or hardware to determine the system’s compliance with specified requirements
- Manage and monitor vendor's software development processes and activities
Qualities for Success:
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and energetic environment
- Experience across multiple engineering disciplines to include: systems engineering, software development, and integration and test
This position can be filled at a level 3 or 4.
Basic Qualifications:
Principal Engineer
- Must have an active TS/SCI with ability to obtain a SAP clearance at time of application
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) field from an accredited university with 5+ years experience OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline with 3+ years experience, or a PhD. Experience can be considered in lieu of degree
- Experience with software integration to include cloud computing environment
- Experience in operational readiness, rehearsals, and system testing
Sr. Principal Engineer
- Must have an active TS/SCI with ability to obtain a SAP clearance at time of application
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) field from an accredited university with 9+ years experience OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline with 7+ years experience OR a PhD with 4+ years of experience. Experience can be considered in lieu of degree
- Experience with software integration to include cloud computing environment
- Experience in operational readiness, rehearsals, and system testing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Linux Operating System experience
- Ansible/Kubernetes
- Agile
- DevOps
- Demonstrated experience in technical problem solving, to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation, and monitoring
- Significant experience with designing, building, and deploying of software products
