About U.S. Army Sustainment Command

The 401st Army Field Support’s mission is to leverage the power of the Army Materiel Command (AMC) and the entire Materiel Enterprise to support the readiness of U.S. Army Central Command (ARCENT). As part of the ARCENT team, the 401st provides logistics support to military and government agencies working to build readiness and security capacity in the region. We accomplish this mission by integrating and synchronizing the reach back capability of the AMC Life Cycle Management Commands (LCMCs) and Program managers under the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology (ASA-ALT). Today, the Battalion operates within the ARCENT Area of Operation (AOR) in countries such as Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, and UAE supporting joint military forces and government agencies such as the U.S. Department of State.

Major duties
Manage, supervise, and coordinate all logistical activities for a complex installation. Oversee the Command Supply Discipline Program, Command Maintenance Discipline Program, to include the Maintenance Manager and Property Book Officer for all USAG equipment. Develop logistics procedures and instructions for work to be accomplished in accordance with Army guidance. Direct all maintenance, supply, ammunition, food service, laundry, transportation, and property accountability, clothing, and other related logistical activities. Oversee a workforce comprised of both in-house and contractor personnel performing various logistical functions. Study requirements for logistical support and brief other directors, committees, Garrison Commander, Brigade Commander and/or HQ leadership on the impact that continuance of such trends will have on the installation/HQs. Execute administrative and personnel management responsibilities related to the accomplishment of the mission. Direct the formulation and management of the directorate operating budget based upon knowledge of operating programs, programmed expenditures, operating costs, etc. Prepare and/or assists in the development of reports for the budget execution review, year-end reports, cost and performance reports, control of funds and statements of review and analysis for all activities.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Overseeing logistical operations for an organization in areas such as: maintenance, supply, ammunition, food service, clothing, laundry, transportation, property accountability, and/or other related logistical activities; Developing and implementing policies and procedures pertaining to logistical operations; Evaluating logistical support requirements and developing plans to support such requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and Management Leadership Manpower & Personnel Planning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
