Job summary

About the Position: Social Media work performed for the United States Army Recruiting Command. This position is a TEMPORARY Not to Exceed 30 Sep 2025, position and may be extended in one year increments up to a maximum of three years.

Major duties

Develops modern and engaging multimedia content that promotes public awareness of the organization and supports the recruiting mission using appropriate virtual communication tools to reach the intended audience. Utilizes multiple social media platforms as well as social media management tools to convey information and publicize the organization's mission. Monitors Army medical recruiting social media pages throughout the specified unit for appropriate professional content and provide feedback and advice to page managers based on analysis of the content's effectiveness. Writes a variety of articles and social media posts conveying information and clarifying the Agency operations, programs, and activities to specialized audiences and the general public. Produces quality stories, photos, graphics, and video products that educate the intended audience about Army medical and religious opportunities and benefits and corrects misperceptions about service.

Qualification

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) assisting in managing a social media program for a brand, product, or organization; 2) utilizing multiple social media platforms to post social content.; 3) analyzing social media industry trends to maintain organizations social media relevance; AND 4) aiding in creating multi-media tools for social listening, social analytics and/or social engagement. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position such as Social Media, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, and Marketing. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
