About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU), Cadre Detachment, Joint Base San Antonio, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the General Supply Specialist assigned to the Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU) and as a point of contact (POC) to obtain support for supply and logistic requirements.

Major duties

Provide supply and logistical support requirements to the Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU). Point of contact for requisitioning, receipt, storage, issue, inventory management, and maintenance of equipment and supplies for the organization. Maintain inventory control records in an automated system for supply items. Manage the supply storage room which is responsible for the receipt, storage, maintenance, and issue of material and equipment. Provide information as to practices, policies, and procedures affecting supply and logistics support matters. Monitor usage transactions, tracks the timing of reorder actions, and verifies cost changes for parts and subassemblies. Receive equipment, furniture, and supplies delivered to the unit and verifies and reports on accuracy of shipment. Analyze inventories in relation to projected needs and provides guidance to respective managers. Serve as a resource to the faculty and staff concerning hazardous materials. Provide driver support in Government-owned passenger carrying vehicles transporting persons and materials within and around the installation.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) maintaining supply control for equipment management such as receiving, record keeping, issuing, storing, maintaining, preserving, and disposing of supplies and equipment, 2) utilizing supply management automated systems for data entry and reporting, 3) conducting quality control inspections of source documents to ensure accuracy, and 4) verifying equipment and supplies received to determine accuracy of shipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Logistics Management or Supply Chain Management or other fields related to this position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service Inventory Management Manages and Organizes Information Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
