About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 406th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Transportation Division, in Fort Belvoir, VA.

Major duties

Provides customer service to commercial and military shippers on technical transportation requirements, booking processes, and Integrated Book System (IBS) requirements. Advises and assists with information, interprets technical transportation rules, regulations, and contracts which affect the cost and efficiency of administering the traffic management programs. Provides technical advisory assistance on traffic and transportation facilities, on equipment availability and on operational practices and traffic patterns pertaining to freight which moves through the Area of Responsibility (AOR). Works with Traffic Manager or Installation Transportation Officer (ITO) to provide technical advice, continuity of policy, and effective day-to-day working relationships.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes which includes: 1) Use automated transportation systems to arrange the most economical methods of shipping freight; 2) Identify requirements for specialized shipment needs; and 3) Prepare documents for shipments/transportation related activities. That experience is equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service (GS-06) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Computer Skills Information Management Technical Competence Transportation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
