This position is located in the Pentagon Shops Mechanical, Facility Operations Group, Facilities Operations and Services Division, Facilities Services Directorate (FSD), Washington Headquarters Services (WHS). The Pentagon Shops (PS) oversee the maintenance, operation, and repair of structural, electrical, and mechanical utilities systems on the Pentagon Campus, providing 24 hour a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year customer support.

Major duties

This position is being filled under Direct Hire Authority (DHA) in accordance with Section 1109 of FY 2020 NDAA; P.L. 116-92 and Section 9905 of Title 5, U.S.C. (Section 9905 of Title 5, U.S.C.) Incumbents typical work assignments may include, but is not limited to the following: Manage Commercial buildings comprised of warehouses, multi storied buildings located in large urban areas or scattered through several medium-size cities in the Washington Area. Maintain key contacts across all phases of Government and varying ranks within the department. Maintain contacts within local municipalities to include fire, police, permitting, and public utility offices. Responsible for managing/planning major alterations and renovation projects to meet the tenant's needs. Perform inspections of GSA Leased and Owned space to ensure that Department of Defense (DOD) tenants are receiving the service to which they are entitled and to ensure lessors are in compliance with the leases. Identify any deficiencies and makes recommended solutions in resolving problems and/or issues for improving building management services. Make a determination of and takes appropriate corrective action.

Read more about what should I include in my federal resume? at https://www.usajobs.gov/Help/faq/application/documents/resume/what-to-include/ You may qualify at the WG 11 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the WG 9 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to: Maintain, repair, and test a variety of complex equipment and systems involving power boilers, single and multiple fuel power boilers, and associated auxiliary and pollution control equipment. Plan and lay out installation, repair, and/or modification of a variety of complex equipment and systems. Apply and interpret information in detailed blueprints, charts, and sketches to adjust, replace, and repair equipment. Maintain records and documents actions. Determines causes of unusual or improper operation and operating conditions. Evaluate a situation and initiate the corrective actions to prevent recurrence of improper operation or equipment failure. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
