Job summary

About the Position: This position is located at the U. S. Army CBRN School, Directorate of Training and Leader Development on Fort Leonard. Fort Leonard Wood is located in South-Central Missouri Ozarks. The Fort is located in Pulaski County, Missouri. Bordering the installation to the North are the towns of Waynesville/St. Robert. St. Louis is a 2 hour drive to the East along I-44 and Springfield is a more than an hour's drive to the West of Fort Leonard Wood.

Major duties

Serve as a training specialist responsible for the training/testing program for International Fire Safety Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) Certification of the Awareness, Operations, and Technician levels of training. Provide instruction for IFSAC testing to instructor personnel on IFSAC compliance and Awareness, Operations, and HAZMAT Tech requirements. Use various training manuals, study guides, lesson plans and other available reference sources to present training. Assist in making any changes required to instructions due to changes in the regulations or mission that cover the requirements for the courses. Seek ways and opportunities to expand knowledge, skills and abilities to enhance job performance and stays abreast of current trends and technologies. Monitor and proctor student testing for IFSAC Certification. Review student reclamas Ensure testing facilities meet test security requirements and procedures are followed according to the USACBRNS Testing SOP.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes ability to instruct students and instructors on International Fire Safety Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) hazardous materials (HAZMAT) certification requirements on HAZMAT Awareness, Operations, and Technician; teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s); supervising or administering a training program; development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc. and evaluation of training results; working in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled requiring training or instructing others on a regular basis. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Curriculum Development Learning and Program Evaluation Oral Communication Training and Education Analysis Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
