Major duties

Implements operational policies and procedures to maintain compliance with DoD and DCMA Personnel Security Program requirements. Interprets security directives and resolves unique and complex security problems. Reviews pre-appointment security checks for applicants and contractors for sensitive positions. Ascertains acceptability of current or prior investigations and determinations of security eligibility. Reviews, evaluates, and makes security determinations involving minor derogatory information developed during personnel security investigations. Develops and presents educational programs related to all phases of the Personnel Security Program.

Qualification

To qualify for a Personnel Security Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in, or related to, this position. To qualify for the NH-03 level, specialized experience must be at the NH-02 or GS-11 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Creditable specialized experience includes: Advising on personnel security policy and procedures; Applying procedures for obtaining, processing, and making determinations regarding receipt of derogatory information; and Determining reliability, loyalty and trustworthiness of personnel for sensitive and non-sensitive positions.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
