Job summary
This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Major duties
You will perform preliminary and final finishing by rubbing with abrasive stone, applying coat of cement mortar, applying cement mixture to walls to waterproof, etc. You will repair, rebuild, or construct a variety of brick, block, and stone structures and surfaces. You will lay common and face brick and firebrick in headwalls, circular planters, manholes, columns, walls, chimneys, fireplace hearths, etc. You will mix and spread mortar, lay bricks or blocks in straight horizontal rows and in circular and tapered course, and finishes joints. You will repair, alter, and construct a variety of cement and concrete surfaces and structures, including headwalls partitions, foundations, steps, floors, walks, etc.
Qualification
This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a MASONRY WORKER without more than normal supervision performing common tasks including: 1) Repairing, rebuilding and constructing brick, block and stone structures and surfaces such as partitions, walls, walkways and fireplaces; 2) Repairing, altering and constructing cement and concrete surfaces and structures such as foundations, steps, floors and walks; 3) Mixing mortar to the desired consistency by using the proper proportions of sand, lime cement and water; 4) Using a trowel in spreading mortar and finishing joints; and 5) Using tools such as gauge lines, spirit levels and plumb bobs to obtain straight courses.
