Job summary
You will serve as a MARITIME PLANNER (GFM) in the staff of Commander, US Naval Forces Europe/Africa, COMUSNAVEUR-COMSIXTHFLEET SEA, Capodichino, Italy. The President has ordered a government-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the hiring freeze. Although we are moving forward with the consideration of candidates, we will not make a selection for this vacancy announcement unless and until the position is no longer subject to the hiring freeze.
Major duties
You will lead and participate in operational planning teams to develop comprehensive and integrated concepts for future maritime operations. You will be responsible for expert analysis, long and short-range assessment, and program effectiveness improvement for overall maritime planning process and associated systems. You will plan, coordinates and executes all aspects of the assigned responsibilities through technical, analytical, and doctrinal expertise of joint and naval maritime operations. You will conduct independent analysis of operational requirements, evaluates capabilities to meet these requirements, and recommends alternate courses of action to resolve deficiencies. You will participate in or leads ad hoc study teams to address operational problems, coordination and related issues of joint operational concern. You will provide authoritative, operational and technical assistance, advice and input for maritime planning-related instructions, standing operating procedures, white papers, and point papers. You will provide analytical support in the conceptualization, development, and implementation of complex, multiple, inter-linked military functional and automated systems using accepted military system analysis techniques.
Qualification
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-12) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Advising, developing, leading, and monitoring maritime planning projects and resources. Implementing detailed operational concepts and plans to support maritime future operations. Leading maritime planning activities and review mission critical information processes. Compiling, correlating, reviewing, and evaluating Fleet readiness to accomplish assigned mission essential tasks and requirements.
