Job summary

You will serve as a Marine Machinery Repairer in the Marine Machinery Shop, Mechanical Group, Production Resources Department, of PSNS and IMF.

Major duties

You will assist higher skilled mechanics in the disassembly, inspection, repair, test, shipboard lay-out and alignment, installation of steam or gas turbines, reduction gears and other main propulsion components and various type of pumps and valves. You will test, troubleshoot and adjust shipboard mechanical systems and components to assure proper operation. You will prepare required reports and documentation of work performed. You will use various machine and hand tools, such as portable valve refurbishing machines, drills, grinders and boring bars. You will interpret blueprints, diagrams, and other drawings to accomplish system and equipment repairs. You will be responsible for following all requirements concerning the use, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
