Job summary
You will serve as a LEAD ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the FORWARD DEPLOYED REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER of FW DEPLOYED REG MAINT CTR DET BAHRAIN.
Major duties
You will coordinate component repairs and purchases to support the repair of a complex electronics end item assembly. You will adapt oral communication methods and styles based on the audience and the target objectives. You will conduct research to evaluate design changes, advance development changes or system improvements for radar systems. You will adapt methods and techniques to solve electronic operational issues on electronic equipment (e.g., AN/SPY-1 Radar Systems or other ship systems). You will develop reports to define project tasks, activities, or material discrepancies related to radar systems.
Qualification
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Providing technical assistance for urgent mission-degrading Casualty Reports (CASREPS) affecting assigned radar subsystems; AND 2. Providing engineering guidance to port engineers for trouble shooting maintenance issues of radar systems; 3. AND 3. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONTINUED: This position requires that the incumbent obtain and maintain current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification via command sponsored CPR training and annual refresher training which is offered during working hours. This is an EMERGENCY-ESSENTIAL position. In the event of a crisis situation or war, the incumbent must continue to perform assigned duties to support, mission requirements until relieved by proper authority. Incumbent must sign DD FORM 2365 and must be removed from their military recall status if alternatives for filling the position during an emergency are not available. The work regularly involves frequent exposure to hazardous conditions such as: high electrical voltages; large rotating machinery elements; electromagnetic radiation from high powered transmitters; nuclear radiation in and around machinery spaces aboard nuclear powered ships; explosive, flammable or incendiary materials, turbines, condensers, etc. The work is normally required aboard U.S. and foreign naval ships at berths, at anchor or at buoys within the harbor. On numerous occasions and with short notice, there will be requirements to perform temporary additional duty at sea on naval ships and/or at Naval or private shipyards located throughout the world (including combat zones) utilizing government as well as commercial aircraft. Helicopter and aircraft (COD) flights are utilized for transfer to/from ships at sea. High line transfer from ship to ship may be occasionally required. This position has been identified as one in which shift hours may be changed without three days advance notice and for periods of less than three weeks. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION CONTINUED: Pay retention may be granted when certain conditions are met. Military Spouse Preference applicants will be placed at the highest grade for which they have applied and are determined Best Qualified (BQ). The current workweek is Sunday through Thursday. Employees hired from continental U.S. will receive Sunday Premium Pay (computed at 25% of basic hourly rate, eight hours per week). The Office of the Secretary of Defense (Personnel and Readiness) limits the number of Bahrain based DoD personnel accompanied tours. Dependent entry approval from Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command is required for all accompanied tours prior to extending the final job offer and prior to issuing Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders. Accompanied tours are not guaranteed.
