About the Position: Serves as the Deputy to the Director, Korea Battle Simulation Center (KBSC), assists with planning and execution of simulation-driven exercises from theater through division and other service equivalent level for the Republic of Korea/United States (ROK/US) Combined Forces Command (CFC). Major duties
Provide a modeling and simulation/exercise capability that facilitates the efficiency, combat effectiveness, and productivity of the armed forces of the US and its allies within the USINDOPACOM and Korea Theaters of Operations. Manage and Korea Battle Simulation Center (KBSC) simulation, networking, exercise control, battlefield visualization, after action review, Opposing Force (OPFOR) and media portrayal capabilities. Manage a $20M budget to execute simulation, technical and functional support to the command’s exercise program. Approve multi-year and longer-range work plans to enhance achievement of KBSC goals and objectives. Exercises final authority for the full range of personnel actions and organization design proposals recommended by subordinate supervisors. Making major decisions and taking actions which have a direct and substantial effect on the combat readiness of supported organizations and exercise/training programs.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service which includes: Developing and accessing joint/Department tailored operational exercises and associated programs; Providing recommendations on how to sustain and improve on exercise requirements; Developing and implementing approved innovations to enhance joint and Component level readiness requirements; Supporting the development and publication of Joint/Department Training and Exercise Guidance; Informing leadership and staff of individual and collective exercise opportunities; and Reviewing and updating operational training policies and goals as appropriate. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Human Capital Management Military Exercise Planning Program Management Training and Training Support Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13). To be eligible for promotion or placement under this plan, applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, or within 30 calendar days after the date of the rating for open continuous announcements.
