About the Position: Serves as an Engineering Equipment Operator (Motor Vehicle Operator) operating engineering and construction equipment for grade work in the Range and Training Complexes. Responsible for transportation of articles, materials and engineering equipment located on Dona Ana Range Camp, Dona Ana, New Mexico.

Major duties

Operate a variety types of motor vehicles to include vans, pickup trucks, dump truck's backhoes, and large industrial equipment with numerous attachments with gross weight of more than 26,000 pounds and up to 100,000 pounds. The ability to operate, control and clean light or heavy power equipment and to work safely with heavy tools. Operate the equipment in a safe manner in accordance with rules and regulations and handle equipment properly so that it is not damaged. Operate vehicles over a variety of roads including interstate highways and public roads. Completes assignments involving several tasks or processes which require remembering directions, sequences, etc.

I have the ability to perform the common duties operating a variety of heavy equipment such as bulldozers, motor graders, front-end loaders, and angle dozers to roughen up or break up earthwork surfaces; perform preventative maintenance on tractors and assigned equipment; operate farm-type tractors and towed or attached equipment to maintain training areas, ranges, and combat trails; perform minor equipment adjustments and maintenance on tractors and equipment; and performing various laboring duties on open fields, ranges, maneuver areas and unimproved roads. I work under normal supervision of a work leader who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Ability To Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle) Operation of Motor Vehicles Reliability and Dependability as a Engineering Equipment Operator Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Physical Effort: Heavy physical effort is used by the operator in constantly reaching, bending, turning, and moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to handle different sets of controls to operate the equipment and attachments. Because of the location of some of the controls and attachments, the operator is frequently required to work in awkward or strained positions. Working Conditions: Work is performed outside in varying types of weather, often in an open driver's seat or platform, on slopes, grades, and rolling surfaces.
