Job summary
You will serve as a EMERGENCY SERVICES DISPATCHER in the CONSOLIDATED EMERGENCY DISPATCHER CENTER (CEDC) of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP BUTLER. The President has ordered a government-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the hiring freeze. Although we are moving forward with the consideration of candidates, we will not make a selection for this vacancy announcement unless and until the position is no longer subject to the hiring freeze.
Major duties
You will test emergency warning systems (e.g., tone alters, radio systems, telephone hotlines) to confirm working condition. You will monitor the status of emergency services and personnel to determine the availability of fire, medical, and police response units. You will explain information to emergency personnel (e.g., law enforcement, emergency medical services [EMS], fire personnel) to dispatch personnel to the reported incident. You will receive emergency and non-emergency dispatch service requests by telephone, mobile radio calls, or automatic alarms. You will use various dispatch communication software programs (e.g., Computer Aided Dispatch [CAD], Automated Location Information [ALI], two-way radio console) in emergency situations to communicate dispatch instructions.
Qualification

Please see Additional Information section below.*** Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing a wide range of dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls using various type of communications (e.g., telephone, mobile radio or automatic alarms) AND maintaining security/personnel records via Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. Conditions of Employment Continued ~ Must obtain and maintain Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certification within six months of employment and the employee must also be CPR/ AED-certified through the National Safety Council, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross. ~ Must obtain and maintain certification to operate the required state and federal Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS), such as NCIC and NLETS, within six months of hire.
