About U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command

Tooele Army Depot (TEAD) is an US Army Military Installation located approximately 45 miles West of Salt Lake City, Utah. TEAD is a premier active joint ammunition storage site. TEAD is responsible for shipping, storing, receiving, inspecting, demilitarization, and maintaining training and war reserve conventional ammunition. Tooele’s Ammunition Equipment and Manufacturing Directorate (AEMD) designs and manufacturers ammunition peculiar equipment (APE) used in maintenance and demilitarization of munitions for all the Department of Defense (DoD). The Depot is in Tooele County and surrounded by the communities of Tooele, Grantsville, Stockton, and Rush Valley. The area surrounding the depot is as an urban center for a highly varied productive industrial and agricultural industries.

About the Position: This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at McAlester Army Ammunition Plant, McAlester, Ok. This position installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs industrial electric wiring systems and other electrical work.

Major duties

Install, maintain, and repair industrial electrical wiring systems, related switches, distribution panels, and outlet boxes, to include a variety of electrical fixtures, tools, and appliances. Troubleshoot problems (e.g., loose or worn wiring, defective relays or transformers) on equipment to correct issues. Install conduit, conduit fittings, seals and devices in a variety of hazardous locations. Coordinate with industrial electronic control repairman on complex circuitry in troubleshooting, repairing, and testing electronic controlled equipment. Test circuits and equipment by use of voltmeter, amp meter, wattmeter, megger, and ohmmeter.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electrician without more than normal supervision: Install and operate common electrical systems and equipment; read and interpret blueprints, specifications, sketches, and manufacture's wiring guides; and measure, cut and bend wire and conduit to specified lengths and angles. I am skilled in using a variety of test equipment, including meggers, test lamps, and ammeters. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Knowledge of Electrical Equipment Ability to Use Electrical Drawings Troubleshooting (Electrical) Ability to Use and Maintain Hand Tools (Electrical Work) PHYSCIAL EFFORT: Requires frequent walking, kneeling, climbing, bending, and working in strained and cramped positions, lifting and moving equipment weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment. The two person lift limit is 100 pounds and will only be used for single event, non-routine lifts. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works indoors and outside shops and buildings. Subject to severe weather conditions and elements in emergency situations. Subject to chemical and steam burns. Subject to heat prostration from ovens, steam equipment, and heat treating equipment. Danger of falling from scaffold, ladders, catwalks, cranes, buckets, and roofs of heights in excess of 30 feet. Subject to dust, chemical, gas and various fumes, electrical shock, and/or burns. Work requires use of personal protective equipment such as, but not limited to, half/full face respirators, dusk masks, safety glasses, and shoes appropriate to the work are and work performed. Discomfort may be experienced while wearing protective equipment.
