Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Staff Facilities Power Systems Electrical Engineer Level 5 to lead the electrical design of facility projects that support both sustaining infrastructure and new program facility requirements at our Clearfield, Utah location.

In this position you will plan, design and oversee the reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of buildings, equipment, and machinery.  Responsibilities include gathering, reviewing, and finalizing requirements data. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design industrial electrical power systems per the latest edition of the NEC.
  • Develop electrical schematics and One Line diagrams that are logical and well organized.
  • Provide Detailed Project Designs in Revit / AutoCAD drawing format.
  • Consult with construction project managers on electrical power options.
  • Be a technical resource for maintenance when troubleshooting industrial electrical equipment.
  • Develop electrical maintenance guidelines for industrial equipment.
  • Work closely with IT to design and manage copper and fiber networks.
  • Knowledge of performing Arc Flash Analysis.
  • Evaluate overall power distribution needs for facilities.
  • Provide project management and cost estimating for electrical projects.
  • Track electricity usage and identify/implement sustainability solutions.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and craftsman assigned to the project.
  • Prepare Scopes of Work (SOWs) and supporting documents for procurement of design and construction services.
  • Inspect or direct the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, building codes, and schedules.
  • Check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards.
  • Coordinate with architecture/engineering firms as needed in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings
  • Reviews and estimates design costs, including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs.
  • Develop strategic replacement plans for outdated equipment to address excessive maintenance, energy efficiency and establish consistency of equipment utilized across the site.
  • Design new facility layouts or alterations to existing structures or construction of new structures, this will include navigating building codes and permits.
  • Develop plans to orderly remove old unused structures and equipment as well as plan for replacement of existing old structures to help meet evolving business needs.

Basic Qualifications:

Staff Facilities Power Systems Electrical Engineer:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) discipline with 14 years’ of experience in the following engineering fields; Industrial, Manufacturing, Operations, Facilities, Systems, Maintenance & Reliability OR; Masters in STEM with 12 years of experience in mentioned fields; OR PhD in STEM with 9 year of experience in previously mentioned fields. Must be a US citizen
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Has a current Professional Engineering (PE) License.
  • Understanding of the NEC.
  • Understanding of NFPA 70E.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Utah Code and Regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to design security systems to the ICD705 is preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong Revit and AutoCAD drafting experience.
  • Experience designing and commissioning power distribution systems.
  • Experience supporting a Manufacturing Facility.
  • Strong organizational skills in managing time, projects and resources.
  • Have applied knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project).
