Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Supportability (Avionics) Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The position is located in Melbourne, FL. This position is fully onsite with no remote work available.

Essential Functions: 

  • Identify, analyze, quantify and influence logistics requirements to support a weapon system including spares, Support Equipment, technical data, training, facilities, and personnel   

  • Interface with vehicle engineering to influence weapon system design for supportability 

  • Initiate and perform trade studies  

  • Perform detailed maintenance task analysis  

  • Determine overall weapon support system requirements 

 

 Basic Qualifications:  

  • Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access (es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field from an accredited university with 5 years previous experience working in an Engineering or Technical position OR a Master’s Degree in STEM and 3 years' experience OR PhD with 1 year of experience.

  • Must have a basic understanding of electrical engineering. 

  • Prior experience in systems engineering, system design concepts and maintenance of avionic and/or RF Systems, including Communications, Navigation, RADAR, digital and analog systems. 

  • Knowledge of design and database tools (NX/CPLM) and possess ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and parts list.

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Master’s degree in a STEM field (Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing). 

  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance. 

  • Current Special Program Access (PAR/SAP). 

  • Experience with testability, troubleshooting, fault trees and/or FMECA. 

  • Navy aircraft maintenance experience in an aircraft carrier environment.

  • A&P Certified Mechanic.
