Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Software Engineer – SW CI/CD Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Huntsville, AL.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives.

C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.

As a member of the Regional Applications Agile Release Train (RA ART) of the Missile Defense National Team for Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) (aka C2BMC NT), this position will be responsible for working across the ART to implement and maintain a standardized CI/CD pipeline for use by all of the Product Teams within the RA ART, across two development sites. The applicant must work closely with the Cyber and Platforms ART to ensure that the tools and applications within the pipeline are maintained and conform to security and other requirements. The applicant will need to present regular updates on the status of the pipeline and work to resolve any issues.

Essential Functions:

  • Experience working within classified environments to implement CI/CD pipelines to support multiple SW releases and build versions
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work independently, and the poise and flexibility required to work in a highly dynamic environment
  • Work with multiple disciplinary teams, especially Systems Admins, IT, and Security
  • Infrequent travel between Huntsville and Colorado development facilities may be required

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of experience, or a PhD and 1 years of experience, or 9 years of related experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD issued secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs.
  • DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA) is required to start

  • Experience with CI/CD, especially in a classified development environment

  • Experience working in an Agile development environment
  • Knowledge of:
    • Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG)
    • Multi-factor authentication implementation like:
      • IPA and ADFS
      • OpenShift

      • VMware ESXI
      • QAS/VAS
      • Windows
      • Active Directory
      • Backup and Recovery
      • Containers and Container Orchestration products
  • Understand the concept of PaaS and SaaS
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery and how it applies to IT and IT products

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in engineering focused discipline is highly desired.
