Our Battle Management Software Department in Indianapolis, IN is looking for a Principal Software Engineer [OO Development] to support development, test, and other tasks throughout a software life cycle for aircraft embedded software applications. The aircraft operating system interfaces with several avionics systems including displays, navigation, and mission planning. This challenging work requires strong problem-solving skills and the desire to learn from and work with world class Engineers.
What you will do:
This position is for a Principal Software Engineer who has the educational and professional experience in the leadership, development, and implementation of software for real-time applications. Deliverables include but not limited to:
- Uses and provides technical leadership and creative solutions to complex technical system and software integration problems .
- Works closely with Systems Engineers to design ideal solutions with the end user and operational needs in mind.
- Supports all aspects of a software development life cycle as members of a multi-disciplined team. This would include supporting new and legacy military and commercial programs from concept and requirements, to design, development, integration, test, and potentially subsequent maintenance tasking.
- Provides technical leadership through mentorship, subject matter expertise, team leadership, and participation in proposal, design, and process improvement
- Maintain Secret Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.
- Work onsite at Indianapolis, IN [relocation eligible]
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Minimum 8 years of professional work experience in Software development.
- Developing software in a Windows environment.
- Architecting, Developing, testing software using C, C++, C#, Java or closely related software languages
- Embedded Software Architecture Experience on systems using a Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS), e.g., Linux, Green Hills (GH) Integrity, VxWorks, or other.
- Some embedded development work in aircraft avionics and displays.
- Some experience as Scrum Master/ Team lead/ Technical area lead on a multi-discipline team.
- Experience working and solving complex issues with both internal and external customer input
- Experience developing design, requirement, and user documentation.
- Working knowledge in Shell/Perl/Python.
- Proficiency utilizing software debugging tools to troubleshoot software implementation and ensure integrity of the software products.
- Must be able to acquire U.S. government issued Secret security clearance after start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred).
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Master’s Degree (MS) preferred in a STEM discipline
- Ada software development experience
- Experience using software optimization techniques and timing analysis to ensure real-time operation and synchronization of software products
- Working knowledge in the development and integration of software drivers for the operation of computer hardware interfaces
- Working knowledge in common computer hardware interface and data protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, RS-422, USB, PCI, and 1553
- Working knowledge of Software Configuration Management principles environments and tools
- Working knowledge and experience with configuration management tools such as Git
- Working knowledge and experience in an Agile development environment using ADO or equivalent
- Parallel programming principles and processes for technical computing environments
- Familiarity with DO-178C DAL C software development life cycle development and processes
