Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

Responsibilities for this Position

Primary position requires provision of clinics services within the occupational health clinics

Performs complete physical examinations for annual requirements as well as periodic surveillance examinations per company policy, OSHA and NAVSEA.

Conducts sick-call on ill or injured employees with supervision from the Medical Director. This includes suturing lacerations, obtaining appropriate x-rays and laboratory tests and counseling employees concerning the results. Reviews restrictions on those returning to work and assists in theaccommodations needed.

Liaisons with the Employee Assistance Program, Workers Compensation Facilitator, Benefits office and local physicians. Responsible for nursing/medical/emergency protocols including infection control and blood borne pathogen issues. Must be capable and responsible with programmanagement ofSea Trials, Travel and Off Site Monitoring. Must becapable of becoming Radiation Health Indoctrination (RHI) certified via the USN.

This position is at the Quonset Point location in Rhode Island.

Eight-hour shifts Monday to Friday. Second shift from 3:30 to midnight. Shifts subject to change. Variations occur generally between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 a.m., with rare instances of weekend coverage.

• Ability to set realistic, measurable education goals for patients, taking into consideration patient/family needs, level of understanding and available local resources
• Ability to develop and provide individualized and group counseling, guidance, and health instruction with a focus on disease prevention and health maintenance
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software and basic computer maneuverability
• Must possess a professional attitude and be willing to complete all clinical as well as administrative assignments

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree (or higher) - new graduates will be considered
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and a graduate of an accredited program for nurse practitioners, including preceptorship OR a graduate from a physician assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
• Certification by the applicable professional organization
• Current state license - must comply with all state requirements and regulations
• BLS, CPR certification
• Prescriptive authority in accordance with state rules and regulations - Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification
