Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Logistics Engineering Manager 2 to join our Linthicum, MD based Logistics and Product Support organization.
This position is a dual-role position that involves leadership of a team of Logistics Engineers performing Product Support Analysis and/or Sustainment Engineering tasks while also performing similar tasks. Typical work products of a Logistics Engineer include trade studies and engineering analysis to determine a product’s Level Of Repair Analysis (LORA), Life Cycle Cost (LCC), Support Equipment requirements, Spares Modelling, Tracking and Trend Analysis of maintenance and repair activities, and the identification and mitigation of Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) risks.
Roles and Responsibilities
As a dual-role position, the qualified candidate shall spend approximately 20% leading a team of Logistics Systems Engineers working on a variety of products supporting US Army, US Air Force, US Navy, US Marine Corps and other customers. The qualified candidate shall also be a technical performer, working approximately 80% directly on various Mission Systems products in a Logistics Engineering role.
Management role: The successful candidate will manage employees based on organizational goals, program activity, and company policies. The candidate will apply both technical knowledge and organizational skills to solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Specific management responsibilities include:

- Conduct performance evaluations on an ongoing basis to identify growth opportunities, deficiencies, appropriate training, and manage compensation and career progression.
- Facilitate/mediate in conflict resolution matters.
- Instruct employees and review employee work products such as: Product Support Analysis (PSA), Logistics Product Data (LPD) generation, Sustainment Planning and execution, Repair tracking and trend analysis and Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) management.
- Review and signoff on proposal work products.
Logistics Engineering role: The successful candidate will also perform a Logistics Engineering role in direct support of program activity, and is expected to perform one or more such tasks as:
- Product Support Analysis (PSA),
- Logistics Product Data (LPD) generation,
- Sustainment planning and execution,
- Repair tracking and trend analysis,
- Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) management.
- Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leadership for teams performing Design, Specialty Engineering and/or Product Support tasks.
- Conduct briefings and participate in technical meetings for internal and external representatives
- Generation of proposal work products such as Estimates and Technical Volume narratives.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 8 years of direct experience in Logistics Engineering, Systems Engineering, Specialty Engineering, or Sustainment Engineering; or 6 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree; or 4 years of experience with STEM PhD degree.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor people to meet technical, schedule, and cost constraints while maintaining an inclusive and engaging workplace.
- Candidate must have a working understanding of DoD acquisition programs and of Integrated Product Support Analysis sufficient to instruct employees and review employee work products for compliance to program requirements and company processes.
- Candidate must be able to multi-task and balance between programs and functional department responsibilities.
- Candidate must be able to resolve conflicts and successfully resolve issues to meet requirements of program requirements, customers and employees.
- Clearance: Candidate must be a US citizen and currently have, and be able to maintain an active/current U.S. Government DOD Secret Clearance or higher.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous direct or indirect experience as a functional manager or significant team leadership role (IPT lead, CAM, project lead), especially in areas such as Systems Engineering, Specialty Engineering, Logistics Engineering, Integration and Test.
- Working understanding of Product Support applied to Department of Defense (DoD) Electronic Mission System products.
- Working knowledge of Product Support specifications such as MIL-HDBK-502, TA-STD-0017, GEIA-STD-0007 and SD-22, sufficient to instruct employees and review employee work products for compliance.
- Familiarity with other organizational functions such as supply chain, procurement, manufacturing/repair operations, and mission assurance.
