Glide Phase Interceptor Electrical Engineer Lead (Principal+)

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently seeking an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer (EE) to lead the Glide Phase Interceptor (GPI) team at our Chandler, AZ facility. GPI is a new development product offering exciting opportunities and unique problem-solving challenges. The EE lead is the single point of contact responsible for all electrical systems on the GPI vehicle and interfacing to the existing launch system. This leadership position requires a unique personality with strong technical skills, development, documentation and requirements compliance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads Electrical Engineering (EE) team to develop the Glide Phase Interceptor (GPI) electrical design
  • Oversees all aspects of electrical design ensuring compliance to established command media and customer requirements
  • Single point of contact for all electrical engineering matters to multiple customers and peers which include the EE department, other functional departments, GPI program management and the GPI customer
  • Collaborates with other product teams and disciplines to address EE requirement impacts into total system design
  • Works in a team environment, leading team on a variety of tasks with adaptability and quick responses to unique challenges
  • Performs Cost Account Management (CAM), reports variances, earned value, and provides inputs to program master schedule
  • Develops and presents technical material to all levels of customers to represent the program and ensure compliance to all requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related STEM degree with 5 years of experience and or a Master’s and 2 years of experience
  • Active or ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Strong engineering team leadership skills
  • Strong technical and decision making
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, written, and presenting
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of time, including international travel

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree in STEM
  • Cost Account Management and Earned Value reporting
  • Experience working in a multi-discipline Integrated Product Team (IPT) structure
  • Previous interceptor missile system design experience
  • Interceptor or missile launch experience
  • Detail orientated approach with methodical problem-solving skills
  • Experience with small form factor flight avionics packaging design oversight
  • Experience documenting/developing/deriving/following system and product requirements
