Responsibilities will include counseling on matters associated with the pursuit, capture, negotiation, execution and administration of U.S. Government and commercial prime contracts and subcontracts; advising and coordinating with various business and legal specialists inside the company on matters related to intellectual property, environmental, health, safety, real estate and property, human resources, internal investigations, supply chain, export/import compliance, litigation, and employment and labor relations.
This Corporate Counsel position will be located ideally in Linthicum, MD or possibly the Washington D.C./Northern Virginia metro area for the right candidate. Relocation assistance may be available.
Succeeding in this position requires excellent problem-solving skills, sound judgement, strong business acumen, discretion, the highest standards of integrity and ethics, the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with lawyers and business teams inside and outside of the company, and work in cross-functional teams.
This position may be filled at a higher level based on the qualifications below.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS CORPORATE COUNSEL 1:
- Juris Doctor degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant U.S. Government contracting experience
- Member of an appropriate state bar and/or ability maintain in-house licensure status in the work location
- Ability to obtain, and maintain, a DoD security clearance
- U.S. Government and commercial contracting experience at a law firm, U.S. Government agency, and/or in-house legal department
- Ability to analyze complex legal concepts and communicate effectively
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS CORPORATE COUNSEL 2:
- Juris Doctor degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant U.S. Government contracting experience
- Member of an appropriate state bar and/or ability maintain in-house licensure status in the work location
- Ability to obtain, and maintain, a DoD security clearance
- U.S. Government and commercial contracting experience at a law firm, U.S. Government agency, and/or in-house legal department
- Ability to analyze complex legal concepts and communicate effectively
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience supporting U.S. Government programs and/or complex commercial transactions as in-house counsel, plus law firm or Government agency experience
- Experience supporting clients and interfacing with customers in the defense/intelligence communities
- Expertise with FAR, DFAR, and other U.S. Government agencies’ rules and practices
- Litigation and/or investigative experience
- An active U.S. DoD security clearance at the Secret level or higher
