Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Nuclear Integration ArchitectThis position is located in Huntsville, AL or Roy, UT.  This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

What You’ll Get To Do:

  • Design and development of integrated nuclear system architectures and definition of key capabilities and performance requirements.
  • Create, evolve, and maintain the development roadmap and concept capabilities that support customer requirements, cost, and development schedule, including modularity, scalability, and extensibility.
  • Develop thorough definition of system interfaces.
  • Define the system implementation approach and operational concept.
  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Lead system performance modeling.
  • Lead / oversee technical work products developed by the larger engineering team, supporting design reviews and integration and test activities as needed.
  • Lead and support capture activities, including RFI/RFP preparation, customer presentations and demonstrations, and competitor analysis.
  • Maintain knowledge of current and developing technologies and developing strategies for their insertion into both legacy and next-generation systems.
  • Develop modifications to existing products to meet unique customer needs, and support / lead the development of next-generation products within a market segment.
  • Develop customer engagement strategy and presentations to customers.
  • Serves as consultant to top management in long-range company planning concerning new or projected areas of technological research and advancements.
  • Apply new technologies as well as common designs and products enabling rapid development, prototyping and affordable solutions.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline and a minimum of 16 years of experience in systems and product development; OR Master's of Science degree in a STEM discipline and a minimum of 14 years of experience in systems and product development; OR PhD in PhD in a STEM discipline with 12 years of experience in systems and product development.
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Top Secret/SCI Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need.
  • Experience with the following topics:
    • Nuclear systems design
    • Non-Nuclear weapon systems
    • Systems architecture development

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • PhD in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 12 years of experience in systems and product development.
  • Special Access Program (SAP) Current.
  • Business development strategy development experience.
  • Leadership experience with development and/or production program execution.
  • Experience leading technical teams.
  • Multi-disciplined knowledge in areas related to nuclear systems engineering including systems design, hardware, software and firmware design, integration and test.
